Watching movies during PE routine?

  • Watching movies during PE routine?

    I have started torrenting lots of movies to watch while i do my PE sessions, it makes them go by a little faster because honestly sometimes i dread doing them. Do you think this will take away from my PE session as i am not fully focused on it?

    This may not be what you want to hear, but watching *porn while you train can cause as association that may harm you in the long run. What can start to happen is that you'll become conditioned while you train. Then, if you happen to train without your movies your performance will be substandard.

    An important aspect of training involves ensuring the quality of your movements. Besides actual gains, gauging the feel of the exercise is one of the best ways to do that. If you're distracted by visuals then you won't be able to concentrate fully on what you're doing. *This applies even if the movies in question are not pornographic in nature.

      I assume you mean just random movies?

      If so, the to be honest, there should not be a problem, as long as you can manage to focus on quality and do everything correctly.

      I personally ALWAYS do PE while watching educational videos on Youtube or videos that interests me. That's why it's good to have lots of subscriptions on Youtube. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I am watching the screen all the time. I listen more than watching it, but if I do a 5 minute stretch like I am right now, there's no way I am just going to sit there staring at my dick being stretched for 5 minutes. I watch a video instead, while maintaining a good stretch, switch grip and whatever when I feel like it.

      I learn a lot while gaining. It can't get any better and I feel like it's a much better way to spend your time.

      Some say you should only focus on your dick, nothing else, and I respect that. But I had my 1 inch gains from doing what I do.

          No the movies are not porn. Hah i just watched hard candy HOLY SHIT that was intense. Maybe not the best movie to do PE to HAH.
          Big Al, youre advice is exactly what i was worried about... That maybe because my focus was on the movie i was watching, the quality of my workout would be affected.
          Erastyle, i had the same perspective as you, which is why i actually started reading books while i was doing PE, before i switched to movies. And i did learn a lot and that made me feel better about doing my workouts. But i suppose the idea was the same, whether or not my "distraction" is educational lol.
          Im still not sure what to think... Erastyle you could argue that you might have gained more had you been entirely focused on your stretches but thats hard to say. Because i agree, it does seem silly to stare at your dick while you're just doing a simple stretch. However things such as jelqs and more complicated stretches do seem like they would require a lot more focus.

            I watch tv. I think it's best to do something. I feel it makes the time go faster and smoother. I like watching comedy while I tugg it around haha.

              I'm basically the exact same as Era, I watch youtube or just shows, though its more about the listening. Sure you watch but you're very aware of what you're doing. I find it helpful because you can watch a series of programmes that are roughly the same length as your routine, theres 20-40-60 minute shows, or random playlists on youtube.

              While I acknowledge what BigAl has said, I haven't had any detrimental effects over my PE time though I haven't done years and years.

              So tv/youtube is ok. Obviously gold standard would be focussing super hard on every stroke but at the end of the day, watching tv can make you do a session where you might lose motivation and just stop if you were doing nothing.

                I consider PE like going to the gym. At times I may not feel like going but I feel better when I'm done.

                If you're watching a movie and your routine is only 80% effective overall and 50% effective at times, I think it is preferable than the alternative of skipping the routine because it is boring.

                i.e. (0.8)*x > (0)*x, where x is the quality of your routine.

                It is much easier to do while pumping or hanging (almost no loss of quality) but it can be more difficult to maintain quality with jelqing or stretching.

                      I often watch movies or youtube while warming up and stretching because I find them basically mindless and rote. But I've found that during the jelqing portion of the routine I have to pause what I'm watching in order to focus on form and sensation.
