    Like I mentioned before I haven't followed a strict routine but a very slight variation on the jp90 program. I have weight trained now for a number of years and have noticed greater muscle gains by having lots of rest days. Continually going flat out in the gym 5 days a week hitting the same muscle groups achieves nothing other than continually tearing muscle tissue and not allowing it to scar thus making it bigger.

    I think its key to have good rest days. I'm thinking of doing one on one off for week 1. 2 days on and one day off week 2, and then 1 day on 2 days off week 3.

    What do you p.e. elders think? I am very new to this btw.

    Hmm Big AL sompares Pe more to stretching type training than bodybuilding.

      Yes rest days are important. We normally recommend a 5 on 2 off or a 2 on 1 off schedule.

          I've found 2 on 1 off to be a good mix. To me, taking two days of in a row makes me feel lazy... Just the way my brain is wired.
          My Progress: BPEL = 6.375"; NBPEL = 5.875"; MEG = 4.9375"

          2018-01-22 Goal: BPEL = 6.75"; NBPEL = 6.25"; MEG = 5.0"

            IMO if you routine is less advanced/intense 5 days on 2 days off is fine. When you start doing the more advanced stuff 2 days on 1 day off is better. I think there's a lot of people that under estimate the power of taking a rest day. I compare rest days to "cashing in the check" for all your hard work. It is also good to take extended rest breaks for minimum of 1 week every so often also. Ah, but what do I know, I'm just a burrito....
